In 2014, Upshot Entertainment followed our founders on a trip around Kenya, scouting for entrepreneurial talent. Paul and Emmanuel made personal investments in several of the social entrepreneurs they met, recorded in the documentary below. Following the success of this trip, The Key is E has chosen to launch its pilot programme in East Africa in 2017.
The East African region is an excellent environment to encourage a climate of entrepreneurship. Kenya has the best infrastructure in the region and is a hub for enterprise, hosting the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in 2015, attended by President Obama. While some politically unstable countries, including South Sudan and Somalia, threaten the growth prospects of the whole region, entrepreneurship can help to foster sustainable development. In Kenya, 42.2% of the population is under the age of 15, representing a window of opportunity to invest in the youth with education and entrepreneurial training, unlocking their talent!
